Derek Caro joined Life Cycle Geo in August 2026 as a Geochemist. His career has focused on supporting mining and geothermal energy operations and exploration. His expertise spans hydrogeochemistry, groundwater and surface water monitoring, geothermal resource evaluation, process chemistry, geochemical modeling, and regulatory reporting. He earned his MSc in geology from the University of Wyoming in 2020, where he studied the fluid-rock interaction and geochemical modeling of flowback fluid from unconventional wells in the Niobrara Formation. He has supported projects through exploration, permitting, operations, environmental compliance, and resource management phases.
Derek is based in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Out of the office, you can find him mountain biking, backcountry skiing, fly fishing, and camping with his family.
