About the position: 

Life Cycle Geo, LLC (LCG) is seeking a full-time, Senior Consultant / Practice Lead (Hydrogeochemistry) to join our growing agile team. This position will support LCG’s innovative consulting practice in the natural resource sectors. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for building long-term client relationships and leading technical teams. This is an excellent opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a young consulting firm and contribute to its long-term strategy and growth. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 15+ years of experience in natural resource sectors (especially mining) 
  • Advanced degree, MS or PhD. 
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining client relationships 
  • Extensive experience communicating with project stakeholders and regulatory agencies 
  • Excellent written and communication skills 
  • Proven leader and mentor 
  • Desire for continuous learning and a drive to solve difficult problems 
  • Strong domain expertise in applied hydrogeochemistry 

Desired, but not necessary: 

  • Registered as a professional geologist or engineer 
  • Experience building and reviewing transport and reactivity-based modeling codes such as PHREEQC, The Geochemist’s Workbench, MIN3P, and HYDRUS 
  • Familiarity with the data science / machine learning process applied to geoscientific, hydrologic, or engineering problems 
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus 

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve in a leadership role in the company contributing to the company vision and strategy 
  • Generate new business by maintaining high visibility with regular client interaction, participation in industry events, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications 
  • Oversee and manage project scope, budget, and schedule through the project lifecycle 
  • Mentor and train junior staff 
  • Serve as subject matter expert / thought leader within areas of expertise 
  • Provide senior technical review 
  • Lead technical reporting efforts, proposal generation, and client presentations

This position will support LCG’s innovative consulting practice in the natural resource sectors. The successful candidate will have a passion for life-long learning, enjoy working on complex projects, and enthusiasm for hydrogeology and geochemistry. This is an excellent opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a young consulting firm and contribute to its long-term strategy and growth.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in natural resource sectors (especially mining)
  • Advanced degree, MS or PhD, in geology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, or a related discipline
  • Experience with balancing and prioritizing multiple projects
  • Familiarity with environmental geochemistry and groundwater flow/transport in mining environments
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Desire for continuous learning and a drive to solve difficult problems

Desired, but not necessary:

  • Registration, or ability to register within one year, as a professional geologist or engineer
  • Experience building transport and reactivity-based models using codes such as PHREEQC, The Geochemist’s Workbench, MIN3P, and HYDRUS
  • Familiarity with the data science / machine learning process applied to geoscientific, hydrologic, or engineering problems
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage project scope, budget, and schedule through the project lifecycle
  • Mentor and train junior staff
  • Processing and managing data for analysis, modeling, and presentation
  • Writing scripts in R or python to automate processes
  • Coordinating with analytical laboratories for setting up testing programs
  • Interpreting geochemical, mineralogic, hydrologic, geologic, soil, and other geoscientific data
  • Providing support for predictive model development
  • Contributing to and preparing technical reports and preparations
